![]() ![]() ![]() I would like decent build quality, because I hate buying shit more than once.īut. It must be compatible with Windows and Mac, *nix is a bonus but I can make do without if I can get a cheaper chipset. So, to cut a long story short, I'm after a USB to RS-232 adapter that doesn't suck. I still can't find a driver for it, and the only app I've found that communicates with it isn't a driver, and it's also a pain in the arse. No big deal, I found Windows drivers that worked fine, even up to 8.1 and 10. One thing that did suck about it was the drivers. Rubbish build quality with a USB plug that dropped out all the time, but meh. For the longest time, I've had a cheapy eBay adapter (WCH341 chipset from what the USB VID tells me), and it did the job *ok*. I work with RS-232 gear a fair bit, mainly Cisco gear with my CCNA, and a handful of other networking devices that talk RS-232.
